Freeport-McMoRan is an important supplier of products on which modern society depends. Thousands of businesses use Freeport-McMoRan's products to provide basic infrastructure components that promote higher standards of living, including technological advances that move societies toward a cleaner, healthier, and more productive future. Prominent among these are companies that purchase Freeport-McMoRan's copper to produce energy-efficient products, their molybdenum to manufacture high-strength alloys, and their cobalt to create advanced technology applications.

Freeport-McMoRan's fundamental challenge is to find the most efficient production methods that will enable them to meet demand for their products in a cost-effective manner while minimizing negative impacts. If resources are not extracted and processed responsibly and in accordance with society's needs and standards, they will lose the trust of stakeholders. Sustainable development is the foundation on which Freeport-McMoRan operates.
