STMicroelectronics has published its 13th Corporate Responsibility Report, for 2009, at: http://ethicalperformance.com/reports/links/st-company-crreports
The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) has confirmed an A+ rating based on its G3 Reporting Guidelines.
The report illustrates how ST creates value for its stakeholders through its culture of Sustainable Excellence and presents its 2009 performance versus high-level objectives, including its Environmental and Health & Safety Decalogue.
Highlights of ST's performance in 2009 include:
A focus on the integration of CR in ST's core business through its responsible products, including in the areas of energy efficiency, innovative health applications and safe and intelligent vehicles, all based on ST's silicon technology.
A reduction of the potential impact of the economic crisis on our workforce as a result of the implementation of our three-year restructuring plan, launched in 2007 and managed consistently with the specific intention of finding 'softer' ways of reducing headcount.
Over 25,000 people trained in 2009 (over 81,000 trained since 2003) in ST Foundation's Informatics and Computer Basics course as part of its Digital Unity Program.
Performance in key health & safety indicators better than our safety targets (reduction of recordable case rate by 12 per cent and of severity rate by 18 per cent, better than our 10 per cent reduction target for each rate).
66,000 medical examinations received voluntarily by ST employees as part of the company's Health Plan with the aim to give all employees access to the same level of healthcare.
A decrease of our direct carbon emissions due to operations (in absolute values) of 58 per cent since 2005, in line with our goal to achieve carbon neutrality on direct emissions by 2012.
60 EICC Self-Assessment Questionnaires have been filled in by ST's suppliers and subcontractors on the industry's E-TASC online portal.
As a signatory of the United Nations Global Compact, the report also serves as ST's Communication on Progress to the Global Compact Office. Verification of data and data collection processes has been provided by Bureau Veritas Certification France.
