Nexen continued to make progress on its economic, environmental and social performance in 2009. Highlights included best-ever safety performance, significant progress on the company’s growth strategies, the launch of a new community investment program and roll-out of a company-wide water strategy.

This year’s report outlines how Nexen is meeting growing energy demands by integrating social, environmental and economic factors into its decision-making. It includes a detailed look at how Nexen is addressing important sustainability issues, such as water management, greenhouse gases and Aboriginal relations.

For the seventh year, Nexen enlisted an external stakeholder advisory group to provide guidance and feedback on the report's content. PricewaterhouseCoopers also reviewed selected data within the report.
