New CR Report Telefónica 09 - Transforming reporting
28/7/2010
View Full Report

Telefónica has published its eighth Corporate Responsibility Report at http://www.crandsustainability.telefonica.com/en/info/report.php

The report, which provides comprehensive information comparable between companies and sectors, runs through relevant issues for the company and its sector, as well as issues of concern in every country in which Telefónica operates.

It uses a new reporting model, which focuses on three areas of information:

part one uses a cross-sector approach to respond to the Principles of the Global Compact and the requirements of the Global Reporting Initiative.

part two examines the most relevant issues for the company and its sector using an analysis to which Telefónica relied on the methodology on materiality created by the Global e-Sustainability Initiative (GeSI) for the ICT sector.

part three looks at the most important issues in each country, with CR Reports for 18 countries following GRI G3 guidelines and the AA1000AS standard.

After reviewing this reporting model with the UN Global Compact in New York, GRI and various other organisations, Telefónica believes it can be useful in opening up a new line of report in order to build a global framework.

In addition to this year's report, the company is offering corporate responsibility information through a new website (http://www.crandsustainability.telefonica.com), blogs, Twitter (http://www.twitter.com/rcysost) and YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/rcysostenibilidad). The company also wants to promote a dialogue with stakeholders through these new channels.

More information: there is an online video in which Managing Director on Corporate Reputation & Corporate Responsibility of Telefónica, Alberto Andreu, talks about the company's new reporting model.
